An architecturally unique school building was recently constructed in Valga, along the border with Latvia. What makes the building unique is its façade, which is reminiscent of a honeycomb. Inside the building, the simple and light atmosphere pleases us, with seminar and conference rooms also available for rent by interested parties. In particular, the large window surfaces in the stairwell catch the eye upon entry.
Unique architecture – incredible energy efficiency
The vocational training centre is the first especially energy efficient school building in Estonia. The object presented a challenge to all project participants, since the average air temperature in Estonia remains below 0° C for more than four months out of the year. Architecture firm Sirkel & Mall, from Tallinn, were presented at the start with the following ambitious goal: the energy cost per square metre for heating and cooling could not exceed 120 kw/h.
The designers as well as the builders were presented with a considerable challenge when it came to developing, tying together and thereafter implementing suitable solutions; with the result being the construction of a school building in Valga that is architecturally impressive and also executed with a high degree of technical precision.
REHAU GENEO PVC-windows for the school building were manufactured in the SeiCom OÜ window factory.
